May 2008 Timeline

In May 2008, Ms. Faith Nsubuga set on a second journey to Moroto Karamoja. The trip which took two month to accomplish was very successful. Her first trip to the region was to select the land location as we were given two choices. On behalf of the ministry, Faith selected the site in Rupacounty. Her second return to the area was for research purposes and to establish relationships with the elders, local government and other egencies working in the area. Before her return at the end of June she had accoplished all the four goals set for this particular tripa, and at the same time introduced the ministry vision. We are grateful for the outpouring hospitality she received by all she met and the long time relationships that have developed.

The research phase began in Kampala where traffic is barely regulated. It is dangerous to drive in Kampala city as each driver creates his/her path to reach their destination.

March 2008 Timeline

On March 13 2008, The Karamojong elders in Moroto district with the oversight of the local government officials sat and made the land donation to the ministry legal. As you can see, there is no building big enough to host such an important meeting so it was conducted according to tradition under a tree. One great tradition among the Karamojong is that they respect and trust the elders to make good decisions concerning them. They meet twice a year regularly to hear disputes and make decisions concerning survival. On this particular occasions, a meeting was called and the land transfertook two days to finish. The local elders took their tme to aggree on where and how much land to alocate. The local government helped with the paper work and signitures of all those present. We are grateful for the elders in this region for granting the ministry the opportunity to be among them, and for the local government oversight this smooth transition. In 2010, we begin we transition to phase 1 of the 12 year plan for the region.

2009 Timeline 1

The dry season in Karamoja are brutal. As the green site disappears and leaves only desert plants behind, families are separated as boys and men move to find green pastures and women and children stay behind to face starvation. About 700 lives are claimed during such a season. Water bone diseases arise as people and livestock drink the same water.

The Karamoja land has majestic mountains. Mt. Moroto is the largest mountain in the area and very challenging for climbers. It is full of minerals one of which is white Mable. The Master's Vineyard Ministry is directly across from Mt. Moroto. This is what we see facing the main entrance.

Site Planning April- May 2009

Ephesians: 2:10: " For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them."

On May 30 2009, we boarded a flight form Kampala to Moroto. This was a blessing as the trip took only one and half hours. The road trip normally takes 12 plus hours and the roads are rough. We are arrived in Moroto to utilize the afternoon with planning the weekend and arranging for proper transportation. The low riders can only be used in town and four wheel drive trucks for out of town.

On Friday , May 1st, we spent half a day at the The Master's Vineyard Ministry site. Bob used his architecture skill and wisdom to map out the ministry lay out. For the journey to be successful, we climbed the hill in the site to have a clear view of the natural water system. The view of the whole site is breathtaking and turned our heart to give God the glory for creating such beauty for us to enjoy.

We had the privilege of visiting a home in the village. Each family unit can consist up to 35 people. A family builds individual huts close to each other surrounded by a thorny face. They build separate fence for their animals with thorn bushes. It was a blessing to see multiple generations living together.

Community Outreach 2008

Dear friends and family,

Thank you for all your prayers and financial support this year. The ministry is moving forward and we would like to share with you our recent visit to Uganda.

On September 2 2008, Jean and I embarked on a journey to see for ourselves the community God has called us too. We arrived on 3rd September and stayed in Kampala for three days working on ministry paperwork. On Friday the 4 th, we attended a youth conference in Kampala. Were given opportunity to greet the congregation and to share the word of God.On Sunday the 7Th our first team headed for Karamoja where the future ministry site in located.

On Monday the 8th, we spent the morning working with security personnel in charge of the Moroto Town. We were granted permission to show Jesus film for two evenings. The timing for evangelism was perfect. School was still on break and teachers for the Abek program were in town for training. They go to the villages and teach children under trees in two cessions each day. The children attend to their chores in between school time. We were given the opportunity to address the teachers and to hear them sing. We are still expecting their input regarding daily teaching challenges via mail.

On Tuesday the 9th, we met with the local government to get recommendations needed to register the ministry locally. We were blessed with overwhelming support and received all necessary signatures to submit in Kampala.

On the same day, we met the leadership for education and the county where the ministry will be located.

We spent tuesday and Wednesday evenings showing Jesus film, and sharing the gospel at the end. On Tuesday evening, 28 people received Jesus Christ as their Lord and savior. We are still waiting for the names of those who got saved on Wednesday via mail. Pray for the spiritual grounding of our new brothers and sisters in Christ. We will be sending bibles to each one of them and making sure there is a bible study for them to attend each week. Micheal, the boy in this picture lost his mother the week we were in town. His family is in great need of food assistance for nourishment. Dying of starvation is very common in this region. Water shortages each year claim about 300 lives and Micheal' mom was one of them this year.

Starting this month, we will have our first employee in Moroto. Mario will be working as Cite Manager from October 1st. His wife and children will join him in January. Pray for proper housing to be available before his family arrives. He will be leading a bible study every week for those who would like to attend. Pray for negotiations with an evangelical pastor to be assisting in church planting.

Making the difference

Faith Nsubuga

Uganda 2008

"Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart..."

                                                                                                  Jeremiah 1:5

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.

                                                                                   Jeremiah 29:11-12

It baffles me that we serve such an amazing God that he oriented and ordained that you and I would get to know one another through this very website long before either of us was born. My prayer is that as you read this God would reveal to you as he has shown me daily that he is sovereign and that he does have a plan for your life, a plan to prosper you and not harm you, a plan that will give you a hope and a future. I hope that you are blessed as you learn what God is doing in Northern Uganda.

Divine Sovereignty

January of this year God provided an opportunity for me to go to Uganda to begin to implement this dream that he had given our family. There were a few challenges right off the bat, first and foremost I did not have the finances to go and second I had just begun a new job and was confident that there was no way that they would allow me to leave especially since I was in a supervisor position, but I learned quickly that if God wants something done He will do it and do it supernaturally. I sent out letters to members of my church and God provided the exact amount needed for me to go down to the penny. The ticket was purchased and just a few days before I was set to leave I received a call from a young lady from another one of my companies' offices that was planning to move in two weeks. She was looking to pick up a few extra hours and the time that she requested was the exact time that I had planned on being gone for, so on January I boarded a plane in Faith to go back to Uganda. It had been fifteen years since I had been back and it was life changing.

God's providence

I arrived in Uganda and was overwhelmed to find that the city and local government had met and had graciously given us 1000 acres to build a university, vocational school, church, community center and primary schools, so that we can positively impact and empower the entire community from toddler to senior citizen. My dream is to restore hope to a people that have been through so much. They have survived presidents such as Idi Amin who managed to wipe out the entire economy of this once budding country during his reign of eight years. He left behind thousands of orphans to fend for themselves. They have overcome the 20 year conflict in Northern Uganda that used children to carry out raids, burn houses, beat and kill civilians. As a result of this bloodied history northern Uganda today still remains with 2/3 of the population depending on food aid. According to save the children, 63% of schools are now displaced and abandoned and 505,343 children are not in school. I believe that is why God led us to this specific part of Uganda. The name alone Karamoja means those who are left behind or the forgotten people and God has placed a deep rooted desire in my heart to be a small part of what He is doing to transform and give hope to his people.
